What we offer is not a curriculum. It's not a method or program. We offer an understanding of the written structure of the English language. Central to word study is the process of answering four essential questions:

1. What is the word's meaning?

2. What are the word's relatives?

3. How is the word built?

4. What can we learn from the word's pronunciation?

We use the scientific method to investigate words. We make hypotheses about the structure of those words, and we test those hypotheses through scholarship. Our students come away from lessons with a better understanding of the way our writing system works.

An Understanding
