Literacy Dr is hosting an in-person event for SWI enthusiasts everywhere. This event will cover a variety of topics and provide in-person interactions for our mostly online community. Our goal is to help you take what you know about SWI and extend it.

Facilitators

Jennifer Petrich, Ph.D

Dr. Jennifer Petrich offers differentiated remediation of literacy, math, and executive functioning (EF) skills for students with learning challenges, including dyslexia, specializing in those with attention issues, sensory-seeking behaviors, phonological working memory issues, deficits in executive functioning, and autism. Dr. Petrich also offers training for teachers, tutors, and parents in scientific word study, based on orthographic linguistics, that benefits all students, whether they are neurodivergent or neurotypical learners. Dr. Petrich holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Sara Lee

Sara Lee is a literacy therapist based in Atlanta, Georgia who specializes in writing and grammar instruction that incorporates scientific word study with its foundation in etymology and morphology. She holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and hosts professional development courses in writing and grammar for teachers, tutors, and homeschool parents in addition to working one-on-one with students, many of whom have complex profiles.
